New and Innovative Projects

Midwestern works on projects in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Southeast Michigan and beyond. We’re proud of our clients, the design teams we work with, and the communities we work in. Now and then we show off the work we do by sharing it here. Two current projects under construction are the Collegian North, and UMRC Kresge project. Both are unique in their scope and settings and provide fantastic opportunities for creative problem solving. Collaboration has been key in delivering unique solutions to each project. We’ve been fortunate to work with many hard-working individuals.

Collegian North Project

The Collegian North project gained a lot of local attention—it’s no wonder why. The project is a mixed-use building in the student-centric South University Avenue area. This area is an area that is unique and valued both by students and alumni. The 10-story, mixed use apartment high-rise is a result of the efforts of a collaborative design team orchestrated by our client.

Among our many diverse design services, we were charged with working with the team on an under-building storm water management system that incorporates infiltration as a solution to stormwater management for the block.

Unique, individual rooms are taking over the semi-private or shared rooms that were once popular in elderly care centers. Today, centers that provide much needed therapy and amenity spaces are in higher demand—we couldn’t be more honored to aide in projects that increase the quality of life and care for those in need.

The Wellness Center provides for care and therapies which include a pool and indoor track. These are spaces rarely seen on senior care campuses.

Unique Elements of the UMRC Kresge Project

  • This site was historically developed in many smaller phases over the course of many years.
  • Utility elements in the renovated areas were reviewed and coordinated to meet current standards for vehicular access, storm water management, and utility connection.
    • Review and coordination of the historic utility elements was significant to the success of this project.
  • Due to the unique demands of this historical space and project specs, we leveraged our understanding of approval process to engage creative solutions, while sticking to timelines and budgets.

Both the UMRC and Collegian North projects will increase the quality of life of future residents. Working on these projects is a welcome honor. Email Tom at tjc@midwesternconsulting.com with questions or other inquiries.
